The vaunted BMW S1000RR.
Friend showed up to a meet and bike wouldnt start. He didnt know how to bump start. So I did it for him. He then gave me 15min to ride it around and charge the battery a bit.
Hehe. Hehehe.
Like. The ZX-10R was fast. As was the Ducati 1198. But those were bike that made it readily apparent that they were going to kill you the first chance they get.
This thing? No harder or terrifing then my f800r. Really. Until you open it up. And it goes. And then it goes harder. And then it goes some more. At which point you wonder: A) how am I not in jail and B) how have I not actually taken off yet?

A decent used one is $14-15k, so probably more than you’d like them to be.

coulda saves his $15, running at idle should have charged it just as much as running whilst being ridden

I had a similar experience. When this bike first came out all the headlines seemed to be focused on the traction control wizardry and the near 200hp number.
When I had the opportunity to ride one, I found it to be very usable, surprisingly comfortable, and not at all scary. It’s a fantastic machine.

its insane. your just puttering around, doing your thing. then you drop a gear to pass someone, and the next you know, you’re on the back wheel doing 250+ km/h and wondering when the hell it happened

well, of course not, $15 is $15, AND riding a nice bike.
I guess I’m just concerned that he seems slightly clueless, I hope his riding skills are up to the job of managing this bike.

dude can ride, but is a bit of a neanderthal when it comes to actual maintenance and what not (always had new, dealer maintained bikes. oh whats its like to be rich)

Yeah... those beemers are dope AF...... I remember when they came out— all the magazines were like, “why is BMW trying to get in on such a crowded market??” then they rode them and were all “holy fuck!!”

Actually, the majority of motorcycle stators (alternators) are so small that they don’t have the output to charge the battery at idle... it’s not until you’re at 2000-3000 rpm that the battery starts getting replenished... But perhaps this beemer is different...
